Day 1 – evening and reflections
So day 1 came to a close with a Teach Meet Game on edition and a Miranda Mod – the one puzzling element of this was why they were both on at the same time? There was some great examples and debate in both – I know as I was popping back and forth between the two and presenting at the Miranda Mod – it was a shame that these events were being run at the same time as I think people would have enjoyed both.
Then it was onto the social and this was a great chance to reflect on the day and to chat and catch up with people!
So my reflections on Day 1 – I enjoyed myself immensely and learned a lot! Not surprisingly seeing as I enjoy using games within the classroom, however the event was well organised, the wifi superb and the company fantastic. This is for me one of the benefits of using Twitter as you get to met those that you ‘follow’ face to face for more than 140 character soundbites!
My highlights of the day were ( in no order!):
* Scotland and the work that schools do supported by the Consolarium continues to inspire me and really enjoyed hearing from Gill and the work that is going on in her school.
* The idea of jamming in learning provided by media molecule
* Matt Mason and the Pirates Dilemma – a great talk and notion of sharing and building on
and last but not least Tim and his orange balls – so that was Day 1 – onto Day 2.
