Project Work
My last post on our cars and Karting mentioned the project work that we had set Yr 6 for over the holidays. Instead of our normal – ‘show what you know’ homework that they usually have every fortnight we thought we would extend this to a project. The brief was to demonstrate an element of the terms work that had appealed to them – they could be as creative and imaginative as they wanted.
The work was due in on Friday and all I can say is for me it was one of those days that I truly know I have the best job in the world! Their imagination and creativity combined with their knowledge produced amazing pieces of work. You don’t have to take my word for it as I have included some in the slide show below:
Normally over the Easter Holidays the homework set for the Year 6s is revision – yes they also had their revision books. However we also felt that the creative/imaginative side should also be catered for – it is the first time we have set this kind of homework over this period, but will be repeating it again. The children – according to some parents I spoke to – spent hours on their work – they were motivated and engaged with their learning and wanting to demonstrate what they had learned over the term. Isn’t this what we want from our learners?

Ben loved doing it – have never known him so enthused about holiday homework! Long may it continue …
